WAIPU CAVING ADVENTURES

Explore the mysteries of the underworld.  A range of grades to match your thirst for adventure.  From wide open entrances to abseiling descents, underground waterfall descents, wet caves, squeezes...... you choose!!

You need:

Change of clothes, towel, shoes/boots with good tread, long pants, long sleeves, nothing too loose, overalls and good.  Lunch.
 
 

Optional activities


Tour A (Easy Ages 6-76)

"The Tourist Cave", huge entrance (drive a bus in) or go via the wet entrance on inflated tubes.
Fun passages, upper levels, stream walk out.
Tour B (Challenging Age 10+)
"Tourist Cave"
Abseil 45m into the cave, scare yourself with your own shadow!
Get a little wet!
Crawl a bit, squeeze only a little
Extend yourself!!
Tour C (Sport Cave Age 10+)
"TWO TONE" is a fun cave, with small waterfalls to descend, some crawly bits, narrow passages to walk along, possibly a short "duck" to get out.
Tour D (Master Cave Age 10+)
Short bush walk
Abseil down 30m, climb out
Huge caverns inside
Glowworms galore
Mud slid climbs up to amazing straw formations and pretties



Waipu caving adventures

The Waipu caves are approx. 2 hours driving north of Auckland.

Caving at Waipu is fun if done with a guide, potentially dangerous without.
